"To possess that charisma, that energy, that memory! Spellbinding ... a beautiful piece... Fantastic evening - wonderful!"

Amanda Bowman, BBC Radio Nottingham re Seven Deadly Sins at Nottingham Libraries StoryFest, March 2010.

Child at the Window

"Stories and songs from the seven ages of Man"

A real treat to perform - this is a joint performance with Sophie and fellow storyteller Kevin Walker.

Between them, Sophie and Kevin weave a fascinating blanket of tales that cover the gamut of human experience and emotion.

From laughter, courage, spiritual wonder and earthly love, to loneliness, bitterness and horror. Hear of the wonder of birth, how to woo your prince, the fish that wasn't (with a hook to the tale that will leave you spinning), a gruesome helping hand, and a desperate housewife - and a goat... and there is more!

Kevin brings charm, thoughtfulness and a mischievous sense of humour, complemented by Sophie's deliciously honed, expressive and intimate tales. Between them, they bring genuine warmth and passion, breathing life into stories that echo the joy, pain and fragility of human existence.

Laugh out-loud one moment and pensive the next, as each tale gives way to the next, let us take you on the journey of life, with all its highs and lows, triumphs and blows, with a little bit of wisdom, wit and charm thrown in. And did you know they could sing? Kevin has a beautiful singing voice and they both might just surprise you in the second half!

It comes as either 2 halves of 45 mins each, or a single set of one hour.

"In Hatched, Matched and Despatched, two consummate storytellers, Sophie Snell and Kevin Walker, combined to produce an evening of sheer delight, with tales which provoked thought, humour and the occasional shudder. A range of cultures, traditions and sources was represented, giving a richness and variety to the programme, and the performance was framed in such as way as to keep the audience enthralled.

"Previous to this event,it had been my great pleasure to see both tellers performing as individuals and their styles definitely complemented each other superbly, with the excellent singing providing an unexpected bonus! I would recommend Hatched, Matched and Despatched unreservedly, a thoroughly enjoyable reflection on life's journey, in the company of two excellent tellers."

Dave Blake, audience member Yard of Tales, September 2011.
